Gorgoroth - Pentagram (1994)

Type: Full Length
Label: Embassy Productions.
Genre: Black Metal
Lyrical Themes: Satanism, Anti-Christianity, War, Darkness
Origin: Norway

Pentagram is the debut studio album by Gorgoroth, a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen. Following the band's two demo cassettes, A Sorcery Written in Blood and Promo '94, this album was released on CD on 12 October 1994, through Embassy Productions. Samoth of Emperor, who joined Gorgoroth in 1993, participated in the recording of the album.

Formed in 1992 by guitarist Infernus (who is also the only original member remaining), Gorgoroth is named after the dead plateau of evil and darkness in the land of Mordor from J. R. R. Tolkien's fantasy novel The Lord of the Rings. The band performed their first concert at Lusa Lottes Pøbb in Oslo, Norway, on May 3, 1994, at a four-day Black Metal Nights festival with bands such as Dark Funeral (who also made their live debut), Dissection, Enslaved, Marduk (who played their first gig abroad), Gehenna and Hades Almighty.

Diverse members of the band were involved in different crimes. Also, the band not only refuses to publish their lyrics - and in some cases tablature, but also actively suppresses any public showings of fan-written reconstructions. The reason for this suppression is not fully known, though Infernus has expressed disdain towards the prospect of material being covered by other bands, among other reasons.

Dissection - Reinkaos (2006)

Type: Full Length
Label: Black Horizon Music
Genre: Melodic Black/Death Metal
Lyrical Themes: Death, Occultism, Chaos, Anti-Cosmic Satanism
Origin: Sweden

Reinkaos (stylised as REINKAΩS) is the third and final studio album by Swedish black/melodic death metal band Dissection. The album was released through the band's own label Black Horizon Music, which they had formed "out of the need of taking charge of our own business and making things our own way, without compromise". The album is less influenced by traditional black metal and closer to Gothenburg metal (melodic death metal) or traditional heavy metal than Dissection's former albums, but, according to Decibel journalist Chris D., still "very much Nödtveidt and very much Dissection". The lyrics reflect the occult tenets of the Misanthropic Luciferian Order and are "based on invocations and formulas that have been linked into the lyrics to evoke the powers that they represent. Occult musical theory has been applied in the song writing process as a means of symbolically charging their structures. They have also been written inspired by scientific ideas such as string theory etc. The songs have all been written with the intention of using sounds and vibrations as an Anti-Cosmic tool and they have all been consciously created to be the vessels for these powers."

Gorgoroth - Quantos Possunt Ad Satanitatem Trahunt (2009)

Artist: Gorgoroth
Album: Quantos Possunt Ad Satanitatem Trahunt
Year: 2009
Genre: Black Metal
Country: Norway

Quantos Possunt ad Satanitatem Trahunt (a Latin sentence meaning "They draw as many as they can toward Satanism") is the eighth studio album by Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth. It was released in October 2009 through Regain Records. Infernus cited the ecclesiastical writer Adam of Bremen as the inspiration of the album's title, parodying his maxim Quantos Possunt ad Christianitatem Trahunt.

Infernus – founding member and guitarist of Gorgoroth – began work on this album in October 2006, as he was about to serve a prison sentence for "gross negligent rape". He continued writing songs while he served his sentence, citing the "lack of outside distractions" as a factor. An announcement which reported the work on new material for an upcoming album was made on the band's official site shortly after Infernus was granted parole in March 2007.

This album marks the return of Pest on vocals, as well as the debut of Tomas Asklund (ex-Infernal, ex-Dissection, ex-Dark Funeral) on drums and Bøddel (the pseudonym of Frank Watkins, Obituary) on bass.
